we had a meeting with the LEA today, they are trying to stop us from going to tribunal.
They say that M has a "right" to a mainstream education as he is a very bright boy and that we are denying him this.
So we said yes he is a bright boy, but what use is that to him when he,s become mentally ill in the past through not being able to cope with mainstream.

Ah but was he ever actually mentally ill, they said, i mean did he self harm?
So i said well you have reports from psychiatrists/psychologists telling you of his high anxiety etc.
yes but how do you know it was due to the school environment?

Our psychologist told them that m is an extremely anxious child and that the mere mention of a mainstream school sends him into panic.
Then the biggest pathetic excuse ive ever heard from them.
Mr XXXXXXX your dx report doesnt actually say M has AS it says M meets the criteria for AS and CAMHS say M,s anxiety, obsessions are due to PDD difficulties that are likely to persist, it doesnt actually say he HAS PDD.

So our psychologist said if a person meets the criteria for flu, then he has flu, you are just playing around with words.
So i called an end to the meeting.
Then they tried to get us to tell us what exactly we do with M on a daily basis and was he looking forward to the easter holidays?
Why i asked.
Well its easter, the children are off school you must have exciting things planned for him.
He,s been at home for almost 2 years, its just like a normal week i said.

I wouldnt be surprised if we get a call/visit from EWO next as they will try to put pressure on us this way.

I have no advice but just wanted to give support. Don't be bullied or beaten down by these people. What business is it of theirs what your son is doing over Easter for got sake? I didn't realize being mentally ill meant you had to self harm anyway? I really hope your ds ends up somewhere where he is happy and feels safe

think i worded it incorrectly, we tolt the lea that ds used to self harm, they were implying that he didnt thereby saying that what we were saying was untrue, this despite 2 consultants and an independent specialist psychologist telling them that ds suffers from severe anxiety.

im not going to disagreement resolution so they can fling more mud at us and wind me up, they wont back down on accepting his dx of AS so im not prepared to waste time arguing with them and will wait for the tribunal.
DH has been laughing since yesterday, he says they are desperate and clutching at straws to start making out that we are making up things about ds despite having medical backup, but i dont see it that way, ive been really tearful since yesterday cos its brought back memories of 18 months ago when no one would believe what we were telling them about ds.

thanks tobysmumkent, i dont feel very strong, more of a weekling atm.
they play such dirty games, they even started going on about dd, they know we are having disputes with nursery over dd, but why bring her into the meeting about ds?
its like a form of emotional blackmail, trying to wind us up. im just glad i stood up and called an end to it.

the one thing that is making me feel strong is that all the lea have is that we are not currently allowing ds to go to this new school and its not that, he,s still signed off medically, he,s still depressed, i think they are going to make fools of themselves at the tribunal, our psych said the lea woman is totally and utterly thick and that she will be made mincemeat of at the tribunal by us and IPSEA.

that thought keeps me going!!!!!!!!
