Hating the Summer Holidays

My DDs behaviour is just so difficult and it's so depressing. Everyday is miserable. Over the past week and a half I think we've had one good day.

I would like us all to have some nice summer memories.

Dd stayed at Grandparents overnight at weekend and although she wanted to (genuinely) and says she enjoyed it, she has really been awful ever since.
Happened the first time we attempted it too, we had a bad two weeks!

Dd now just barks orders at me with one word "dessert! etc, has tantrums, speaks to us horribly with terrible attitude, rarely uses her manners, is aggressive, loud, demanding, anxious, sensitive soul. Every day is stressful as hell.

I noticed no replies, so wanted to say hi Smile how has this week been for you?

Thank you.

Up and down I'd say. Pretty exhausting but we've had some good days. Lots of tantrums and aggression though. Dd is quite defiant and hates the getting ready in the morning routine which is tricky. She can be aggressive. I've noticed a lot of sensory behaviour recently - seeking and avoidant.

Hope you've had a good week.

Oh you poor things.

What does she like?

After an incredibly hard period at the hands of a shit setting my dd very much did the barking one word orders thing. She was unbelievably stressed. I basically left her to it for a while because she really needed to recover and be supported, but once i felt that she was calming down i did insist upon manners at appropriate times, ie not when she was stressed. I think it made both of us feel better, but as I say, it was only because I realised (thanks to chats with a psychologist) she could tolerate it.

Take lots of photos of the good bits, however fleeting. I find that dd's recollections are much more positive than I'd expect.
