My kids are pro flyers.... we live in France, but the rest of the family are in the Uk and we gets cheap flights through work. My 6yo must have done 50+ flights, my 3yo DS must have done 20+. I usually travel on my own with them and we had it down to a fine art... lots of games and interaction in the airport and then as soon as we're sat on the plane, electronics out and it's generally peaceful until we land.... so far so smug.
Anyway, since realising my DS is probably on the spectrum 5m ago we haven't attempted anything like that but this week I had to bite the bullet visit my parents and meet my new niece.
DS has just turned 3, he is getting to big for a Pram (although we did take one, we only ever use it in the airport so he was annoyed) but is not yet mature enough to reason with or to reliably follow instructions.
Getting through te airport was ok, but waiting to board was hard, I let him play and wander a bit but then put him back in the Pram which he loudly and violently objected to. Made sure we were the last to board so as to avoid the hellish queue, sat down, electronics out, all good until take off and then all hell broke lose. Poor lad was in a cold sweat of terror and shrieked for practically the whole (mercifully) short flight.
I have another 3 flights booked this week. :-/
Any tips welcome.....
Plus any ideas why it's suddenly so hard for him, he really was an angel baby....
