Just wondering if anyone had used Socrates for a private ASD assessment? Not getting anywhere with the NHS at the moment. My child is very slow acedemically and myself and teachers agree that he may have autism or some kind of learning difficulty. I have been back and forth to diff appointments but just want an answer before spending years on another waiting list.

Daphnee Keen is a popular psychologist, which a few people have turn to when seeking a neurology diagnosis.

Daphne Keen is a consultant paediatrician who specialises in neuro/developmental conditions and has a good reputation, but Socrates seem to offer a good range of assessments and conduct their autism assessments to NICE standards which bodes well.

Try Spectrum NorthWest - they specialise only in autism

Camhs in Hudderfield bought in assessments by Socrates a while ago as there was a 4 year waiting list for ASD assessments. So any assessment by them should be accepted locally at least.

No idea how good or thorough they are though.

Thanks for the info. The waiting lists are still shocking though. My friend's son waited 3 years for his diagnosis that he needs to go to a special school.
