Had our appointment with local paediatrician this morning. I was much much happier with her thoughts about DS than I was with the other paediatrician we were referred to incorrectly. She says she can see exactly what i see in him and agrees he does have various autistic traits. She expects that when he goes to speech and language in August/September they will refer him for an autism assessment but in the meantime she is writing to the boss of the health visitors to see if they can enquire about getting him a 2 year old nursery place instead of waiting until next August.

Do any of you have any experience of getting funding for a 2 year old nursery place due to additional needs and not income etc? We are in Scotland

My son gor a 2 year old school place on disability funding. It was portrage that refered him though for it. So it can be done. You can search and see if your area has a portrage service and of they do you can self refer. They are brilliant. They got my son in nur6and also did play therapy with him. They are extremely supportive.
