Hi

DS has his finally got his Final EHCP through and the LA have not included any allocation for the Personal Budget I requested.

They told me on the phone that I should speak to the school and they would pass the funds to me from his allocation.

This doesn't sound right to me..... Can anyone share their experience please?

Nope, if you ask for a PB for specific things I am fairly certain they should cost it out in part J and that they are responsible for making the direct payment.

Having said that if the funding is part of a devolved budget eg the school pay xx amount for SLT per yr they are not obliged to split it! I think PB's are a nightmare and LA's understanding of them is limited!

Thx - I think you are right - no one seems to understand them!

A Personal Budget is available for very specific provision that must be detailed in an EHCP. There is not an allocation of a budget to an EHCP, many of the resources local authorities may write into a plan are available through a schools delegated funding or through universal services. Was there something specific you requested a Personal Budget for?

DS1 has been out of school for 2+ years. We got a PB with direct payments for tuition at home and a counsellor. Nightmare. The payments are only for a term but are delayed by months. Now they have turned down renewal for next year. Really hard to get and questioned at every stage. Our latest request has been turned down because they have quoted the wrong outcomes and so say that m/s post 16 Provision can meet need. It can't, he has barely left the house for the last couple of years and they are talking shit!
