Global developmental delay

Hi I'm a mother to a 3 year old little boy. My son was diagnosed with global developmental delay back in April 2017. My son could also have autism (which is yet to be tested). I am struggling being a single mum and I feel like I'm not getting much help at all from the doctors. My son can only say one word which is mum mum, he's struggling with his development and has yet to be potty trained.

I had a meeting at my son's playgroup this morning and they said that it could be down to the MMR immunisation which could of played a big part in my son's developmental delay. Does anyone know about this because I'm really worried incase it is the immunisations that has done this to my son.

That is a ridiculous & irresponsible thing for your son's playgroup to have said.

Immunisations do not cause delays or autism.

However, I am sorry you are struggling. My DD also has lots of delays among other problems and it's difficult. She didn't sit up until 14 months and now at 21 months still cannot crawl or walk and has no babbling, words or non-verbal communication. Do you see speech and language? Does he see physio? I wouldn't worry about potty training at the moment if he has delays to be honest.

He goes to speech and language therapy but he is being referred to a more complex speech and language therapist. He used to go to physio but they discharged him as they said that he was developing well that was before I found out about his developmental delay.
