I have to take him to our local hospital on the 3rd of May to have this done.

I am pleased the appointment has come through so quickly, but also feel a bit chunrned up at the same time.

He's hand flapping so much atm. I have a feeling they may say he has AS.

Pinkchampagne, I am thinking of you.

DS3's assessments continue after Easter as well and I feel similar.

It's the having to face up to it all isn't it?
Much as I know a dx will be a positive thing because he may get the help he needs, it will be hard to have to accept that he has something wrong with him, even though it is something I know deep down. Does that make any sense??

Good luck with your DS3's assessments, Dino. I am thinking of you too.

Oh, it makes perfect sense to me too!

Thanks for your kind thoughts.

I will keep you posted as much as I can, depending on my internet connection at the time, as I am moving house soon!

Spoke to his TA about it today & she said to push for as much as I can with him.
She also mentioned that he seems to have a fear of trying sometimes, incase he gets things wrong.

Good luck to both of you, Pinkchampagne and MrsPG.

Goodluck to you both too.

Rememember a label is a sign post to help your child. Always helped me to think of it like that.

It broke my heart when dd finally got the dx but now nearly a year on I feel so much better. For me the not knowing and guessing was far worse. The actual knowing is a lot less scarier than I thought! xxx

Kelly1978 · 20/03/2007 18:03

good luck to you both. x

Thank you all.

I know any label should be seen as a sign post for help for my DS & I know he really needs that help - but I get myself so upset just thinking about it all atm.
His TA from last year was saying to me today "There is something wrong with DS1 & you need to push"
I know this myself, but it really chokes me knowing that other people notice it.
A part of me wants it to turn out to be nothing, but I know that is not going to be the case & it makes me very sad.
