EHCP draft plan

Our LA have agreed a plan for my DS aged7 which I am really happy about. I have to respond to the draft this week and am working through it as the provision is very vague. Sossen are also helping me. There is one section called "social care" - what is this for? My draft just says "not known to the social care team". What does this relate to should he have a social care assessment? Any advice appreciated.

It may be worth asking for your son to be assessed so that you can access Direct Payments.

Help from social services, e.g. respite care, help with equipment at home, help with accessing clubs etc. Strictly the LA should not accept a statement that the child is not known to the social care team, but if you don't want social care it's not worth making a fuss about. If you do, request a formal assessment under section 17 Children Act 1989.
