EHCP finalised - what next?

Our EHCP for my son has been finalised and in place from 2/5/17. Should I request a meeting with school now to see how they will put in place the support that is detailed? Or is that a bit pushy?

It isn't pushy at all. As his parent, you are his advocate and should be involved in and informed about all of his SEN support.

Have you had someone check the wording of the plan to make sure it is strong enough to make them provide meaningful support?

Yes I had someone from Independent Services go through it with me. I had some issues re his top up funding not being used for him before his EHCP was done, so I want to ensure that they follow this to the letter!

You need to make an appointment with the senco to agree an ILP with some short term outcomes based on the outcomes in the EHCP and information on who will be supporting and how. If you have more than one service involved, i.e., SALT, OT or wave 3 etc, you need a clear plan on how this is worked into the time table when targets are reviewed, how people liaise and support class teachers, how and when the LSA is trained (if your DC has one) so yes, lots to discuss!! Don't leave it, crack on!
