DD has a speech delay - 21 months and nothing just strange noises lol. As DS2 Has asd she has already been referred which will take 4-5 months. She can communicate ok - understands what I say to her i.e. bedtime, nappy time, coat on, yes and no. She can also indicate when she wants something from me. I have noticed that when she makes her noises - 'ga' so far she twists her tongue around. Has anyone come across this before>?

ds2 and ds3 have both been crap at speech, both excellent at understanding. At 16 months ds3 is just starting to put words together- lots in hos own language. Dad gone work boona (boona is car), dra mine (my toast), but I can have conversations with him without any problem.

DS2's speech was worse - he was utterly incomprehensible to people outside the family until he was 2 and 8 months when he started talking properly overnight.

I did keep an eye (and ds2 was dxed with a speech disorder, but it corrected itself (!) ) but I never worried all that much as I knew he didn't have an ASD. I did wonder about verbal dyspraxia but obviously it wasn't as it corrected so quickly wiith only limited intervention.
