I would have thought you had great reasons to tell them to shove it!! are you registered as his carer? if so, I am sure this would be your excuse

Hi Tobysmum - I got excused from jury service as my DD was only a few months old at the time and I was still breastfeeding her and I also said I couldn't possibly arrange short-notice short-term childcare for an unspecified period of time.

Good luck with your letter. IME there are some reasonable people out there. It probably works out for the best anyway as if you were to go and not concentrate on what was going on for worrying about your child at home that wouldn't help anyone.

I was excused Jury service to care for Ds a few years back. I just had to write why I had to be his carer. They did say I would not be excused in future. Hope this helps.

not quite the same but dh got excused as he is self employed and sole earner. would have thought being a carer would be reason enough. I do undersatnd as I would,t be able to do it.
