Verbal sentence construction

DD is saying some 2 part sentences in a strange order e.g. The school is inside the Christmas tree (= there's a Christmas tree inside school), for the X you'll have to wait until (=you'll have to wait until Y for the X).

Hope these examples make some sense!

Has anybody experienced this? Has it developed into more normal speech?

I try to model the correct version for her, but is there more I could be doing?

We just had the SALT assessment yesterday, do waiting to hear if they're going to do anything. I fear they won't (see separate post) as they said she's a good communicator and is still young.

Thanks for the tips. I think we need to spend a bit more time talking about what we're reading, asking her questions etc.

Ooh thanks, I'll look those up. We have massively cut down on screen time to improve behavioural issues, but a bit of guided access sounds reasonable. And of course the iPad is such a fantastic reinforcer .

Nearly 4. Her reading and maths are pretty advanced (Todo math is a great app)! Conversation is pretty bad though. And yes, we've had plenty of assessments etc where she won't do stuff and so they don't know if she can't do it or not, but probably is capable. We're just trying to get her in the best position before starting school next year.
