That wait between appt and letter...

Do others hate this period? The no mans land between a letter and verbal diagnosis.

I find I only really put it all together when I read it and it's a lot to process on the day. Feels almost weird saying much to anyone in case I mis remember or get the tone wrong!!!

Just me? It's been 8 weeks since the appt at asd clinic, I find myself watching the post everyday!

It means referrals take ages and can even be pointless as I've addressed things by then.

I've had a few surprise letters, like. Positive appt (or so I thought) producing a negative review. A dietician was very friendly but then didn't note any progress we discussed and wrote like I was an eejit (mum say she has no idea how to..) I feel edgy in the wait!

Yes I hate this too. And your heart stops when you see a brown envelope on the mat. And you speed read the contents without understanding anything.

It doesn't end with diagnosis I have found. I've been waiting four months to hear from the autism teacher to find out if she can do anything for us.

I know...we've had other diagnosis. But it's some weird closure I guess!!

We waited from a May appointment to get the letter September - typed in July and left in an in-tray I think! It was a no man's land indeed. When it came I decided the 4 lines at the bottom for the school wasn't really enough. I've asked for more info. I think that will arrive in December. Sigh.....

Joining here! We have a diagnosis for 2 of our DC and 3rd is undergoing assessment but we had a routine review a few weeks ago..... and I need to see that report!

Glad I'm not alone, going into my 9th week of waiting in seriously post watching. To make it worse they chain up the post trolley outside the house at 9am then deliver my letters last at about 11:30... it watches me ( yes I know I'm sad, but you should see the kids watch it on birthdays!).

Tartan, I waited about4/5 months once. Turned out GP had a letter in about 2 weeks but my copies disappeared. Only found out as I saw it in screen during routine jabs. Had a prescription change too, but I'd been so used to waiting I left it

That's torture leaving the trolley outside we need to crack on with EHCP for my little one but it would be better to have the report first < grr >

Was this your first app for your DC?

She's been under cdt for years for other needs but it's the first social comm/ diagnosis appt for autism. Same paed as epilepsy clinic though
