My grandson has an ehcp but no school. His mainstream school will only take him an hour a day, because they can't cope. They have the funding for a full time 1-1
Special school local to us have no space. They sent details of a school 51 miles away?? My daughter refused to consider it ,he is 7 and to long a journey.
Today they rang and said it could b 6-12 months before back in education.

Any advice. Thanks

The school is not allowed to do that. Sadly, it does happen all too often.
You (your dd / SiL) need to kick up as much fuss as possible. Harass the Local Authority. Get councillors involved, etc. If they accept it then the school will just carry on.
If he has an EHC then there will be a named officer on the paperwork - get on to them and tell them the school isn't allowing him in. Get back in touch with the EdPsych, or whoever led on the EHC (I know this varies in different authorities).

Oh, and each local authority has to have a service to support families in just such a position as your dd. Google SENDIASS + your local authority.

Contact a Family have family supporters in some areas.

I don't know what your grandson's SEN/D is, but most of the big charities (SCOPE / NAS / NDCS / etc) have advice and support for parents of children not accessing education too.

I've never used them myself, but IPSEA are always recommended on here too.

It is so much hard work to get anywhere and doesn't help our local authority is in financial difficulty.
