currently my three get 8 hours per month, dur to problems getting works we have banked lots of hours the workers we have currently can only do school holidays. DS's old TA is now going to be doing some hours and the SW has said given the current situation with DH's health she thinks we should get more hours, what do you think i should ask her for? 16 per month? how many hours do other people get?

Ask for more. I get 8 hours a week during school terms, 15 hours a week during school holidays- (Although they work that out for the year and then divide by 52 iyswim).

ask for more than you want/need. in my expierence you never get all that you ask for(don't have dp but respite)
I would ask for more than 16 hrs a month.

thing is at the moment we have over 50 hours per child banked, cos we could only use them in the school holidays, plus only had two workers between the three kids, now with a new worker who is more flexible i should be able to use up some hours SW said to put a good case forward to the panel i need to use up lots of hours.

oh I can see the problem now. sorry to have been a bit dense.

i think i will ask for 16 hours per month per child. at 8 hours per month it works out we can have one day per child per week in school holidays, it leaves us nothing for weekends and school days
