A friend called me today.....a friend that because of the way she is I decided not to tell the exact name on my sons dx.....and says "I hear has W* syndrome" when I asked her how I knew she replied that one of the consultants at the hospital (the one we orginanlly saw but I asked to be transferred as I did not like her manner) told her.......I am completley gobsmacked and outraged....!!

Currently penning a complaint as I write.

thats terrible, i would be really angry as well if i were in your shoes.

What about patient confidentiality.?

Jimjams2 · 05/02/2007 20:00

What?????? That's outrageous. Is there an official way to make a complaint- I;d consider it if there is (and it won't impact on you or your ds' care too much).

I complained about SALT once to the head of service. He passed my address onto another parent who contacted him to complain about something unrealted. I was fairly livid.

colditz · 05/02/2007 20:06

Oh boy, that is really unprofessional. Even a cleaner in a care home is expected to understand about confidentiality, surely a consultant should?!

PeachyClair · 05/02/2007 20:09

When I worked at homestart, confidentiality was the be alla nd end all- there is no way this should happen! I seem to remember that being amde very clear in the dim and distant past too (my very brief attempt at RGN nursing many moons ago LOL).

telephone and ask for the formal complaints procedure information to be mailed to you, they have to send it. And make sure you follow it up at every level- its all tooe asy for us to let things slip when we're busy.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/02/2007 20:10

OMFG! Write to the PCT/HCT.

lourobert · 05/02/2007 20:20

My mums works for PCT and knows the complaints officer so I will pen a letter and send it tomorrow.

Im a social worker (please dont hate me for it!) and I would NEVER NEVER even discuss my work with my dp. I am livid and my friend seems more concerned about a complaint impacting on her sons care so shes asked me not to....like hell I wont.

lourobert · 05/02/2007 20:30

LOL Lou- much as I hate the restrictions on SS and who they help (ie not me ) we do know social workers are human ! Honest! (As long as they weren't boosting my homestart caseload with famillies they didnt want to monitor- that used to happen a lot LOL).

Kick some ass, love. Its really not on.
