Car seat confusion

Just wondered how everyone else manages with the problem of car seats - do you use the 'ordinary' ones on the market or specialist seats?
DD is fast approaching the 18kg mark but is small and really needs a harness although none of the extra features of a special need seat.
Currently use a Britax Elite (basically the same as the Britax special needs seat)which has longer straps so OK up to about age 6. Now need one for another car too but the Elite no longer seems to be available. Any suggestions please?

We had the Elite too until ds outgrew it and I think you must be right about it being discontinued. I haven't seen anything equivalent I'm afraid unless its a very expensive sn one. We are now using a normal Graco booster seat with a Crelling Harness as ds escapes way too quickly from the car seatbelt. It has been a great success as ds has rebelled against the straps in ordinary car seats since babyhood and it was always an almighty struggle to get him strapped in, but after the first couple of goes with the Crelling harness he accepted it and now puts his arms in by himself. The harness was expensive but is very adjustable and I expect it last him for a few years at least.
