I have just had a phonecall off my assessment officer (!didnt know I had one, LOL) and my daughter has got a place at the special school of our choice with a view to her having an outreach place at a local mainstream setting. I am so pleased, I havent had to nag, scream, shout or make hundreds of phonecalls. they have just agreed with me and I can't beleive it! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Wow! Fantastic news! It's so great when you don't have to nag or scream just to get what you're entitled to. I'm also glad I'm not the only one looking forward to September!

Rebi · 07/06/2004 10:29

Do you know that if you son or daughter is allocated a special place you can ask thatthey go in for the lastterm before the summer break, dont know if this applies everywhere but ds got a place in the autism unit for after summer but he got taken in three weeks ago p/t till they break up so worth and ask.

Fio2 · 07/06/2004 12:01

Great news fio2. Does this mean no more impossible bus rides to get therapy once she's at the special school? Very pleased for you.

Fio2 · 07/06/2004 16:28

yes no more stupid journeys for me!....apart from the mainstream placement that is. They think the best school for her is in the next village as it has an excellent reputation with ALL children (and ds would get an automatic place there too) It is one of the best schools round here, but I have no car! I will have to get a little knacker sorted before then.

The special school is wonderful though, its here here thats my anon gone I suppose and the website is not that good LOL but there ofsted report is excellent and my daughter just loved it when she was there. I cant beleive she has got in, I am so happy!

Thanks everyone for your well wishesSmileSmileSmile

It looks a very good school Fio. I like the way some Makaton symbols are incorporated in the web-site. Also, the school appears to be for inclusion without loosing the benefits of being a special school - which is ideal for you. It's fantastic news!

Fio2 · 07/06/2004 16:49

thanks dotteeSmile

I think it looks great fio2 and it goes up to 19! Hopefully no more worry about placement for a long, long time

Fio2 · 07/06/2004 16:59

the 16-19 do vocational courses after at the college too, to learn a profession! this is why I love it so much, even if dshe does just a little job she is capable of. Gawd she is only 4 but it just gives me some hope
