Hi!
You posted on my thread about Bowen recenntly - just to say, we've had 2 sessions - last session next week - and have seen marked improvement in dd's posture and movement ... despite being very sceptical going in! D/k if you are still thinking about taking you lo for their free session, but just wanted to let you know we had a positive experience

Haven't seen the original thread JJ but DS2 has Bowen once a fortnight and it has had a positive effect I think - so hard to know when you're doing lots of other stuff as well - but could well have contributed to general upward progression! There's a clinic held fortnightly opposite our house which is exclusively for children with SEN (and free!) - lots of the parents there have seen greater improvements than we have - especially those with physical difficulties

Thank you! What do they do? Is it like laying on of hands or something (!!) or do they need some sort of compliance?

sphil · 24/01/2007 22:49

There's lots of children there who don't comply - they follow them around and do the therapy whereever they can. It's very gentle and designed not be stressful at all for the child. It's like cranial all over the body (hope no Bowen therapists are reading this as i'm sure there's more to it than that ) - small massaging movements. DS2 is always very chilled aferwards, whereas when DS1 had it last year for a few weeks he was always very hyper.

DD is only 10 months - and was not at all compliant - I held her and the therapist did her stuff round us. There were a couple of times where she had to do some jiggery-pokery, but otherwise wasn't a problem.
Tbh, I'm still not sure what she was doing, but agree with sphil - looks like CO but all over body (mostly back/neck/head in DD's case. There's more here - but all a bit vague and waffly for me to make sense of!
DD was unsettled the night after therapy both times (although, tbh this isn't that unusual )
