My 5 year old DS has recently been diagnosed with ASD. He is generally a happy little boy but bedtime seems to trigger a nightly meltdown. DH and I stick to DS's bedtime routine of bath, story, milk and bed and all of fine until the final part of tucking him into bed - this without fail causes a meltdown which sees one of us sitting with him for about an hour until he finally wears himself out and falls asleep. He's been like this all of his life and It's so distressing and exhausting.
I would really appreciate any tips or ideas to try and minimise these meltdowns or indeed how to survive them ..!
