To big for pushchair

I have a tall 4 year old with ASD who struggles to walk for lengthy periods/distances other than to the park :-) he's now getting to big for his buggy and to be honest it's falling apart as we've had some wear out of it, so I'm thinking about getting one of those bike trailer / stroller combo thingies that you can attach to your bike and then convert it into a stroller, but I'm also wondering is there anything else that might be available/ suitable for my wee man, I just need something for those longer journeys , any ideas would help

Something like this? My DS was the same at 4 (and also very tall) and I bought a second hand mountain buggy off eBay. Easy to push and very strong, though probably wouldn't have been suitable if you are envisaging needing a buggy for a few more years.

Don't get a bike trailer and expect to use it as a buggy regularly, they're a pain in the arse to push, and have a bit that sticks out at the front and trips random people up.
My ds used a buggy till he was 6, he had a mamas and papas 3 in 1 style (the ones with the carrycot and pushchair attachments), we used it with the pushchair bit until he didn't need it anymore, and he'd have got loads longer out of it - I used to sit in it when we were camping, and more than once it was used to push adults about a field whilst drunk

We have an ottobock eco buggy, which we got for similar reasons. Just like a normal one but bigger - we have been using it for over two years and it is still going strong. We had it funded for us.

We have a kiddie city and move, which we got for £100, and it is fab. Built for tall German children! Amazing value for money for anyone with big kids who wants to have a pushchair option.

In hindsight I wish we'd bought a SN buggy when he was that sort of age. I was still convincing myself we wouldn't need it for much longer. The reality is we would have got quite a bit of use from one.

We got lots of use out of the bike trailer though, he fit till he was around 7. Things like the school run where he wouldn't want to stand out, it was great for (we had a lot of requests for a ride). It wasn't bad to tow, I didn't find it affected my balance although by the time he was outgrowing it I was very glad the run home from school is downhill!

That said as a buggy it was HUGE, I think it's slightly wider than my maclaren double was and very long. Manageable if the play area is a long way from the bike rack perhaps but no way would I want to take one round the supermarket.

Oh and although ours folds flat the length with the tow bar means I still can't fit it in the car without putting one of the seats down. Ours is not a small car.
