Can someone please translate???

Ok got ed pych report back today heres what it says,can someone please translate to what it actually is saying?

Restricted reptitive behaviours scaled score 7 percentile 16th
socail interaction scaled 6 per 9th
socail comm scaled 6 per 9th
Emotional responses scaled5 per 3rd
cognitive style scaled 11 per 63rd
maladaptive speech scaled 5 2nd

Overall Autism Index score scaled 71 per 3rd

The results show has an overal autism index score of 71 just placing him in the very likely range in terms of probability of him having Asd according to the DSM-V criteria please note this is not a diagnosis........................................

so what is it actually saying?

I just dont understand the percentile bit cause it said percentile is the ranked position out of 100 this individual scored in e,g the 5th percentile means that the person has scored in the bottom 5% of scores for that individual age. the higher the percentile score in this test, the larger the percentage of the autistic population that exhibit similar behaviour, so if he scored 3rd what does that actually mean? does that make sense zzzzzzzzzzzz and thanks for answering.

Scaled score is usually the raw score when "scaled" for age and sometimes other factors. The raw score will be literally what your child scored in that particular category. For your purposes it probably isn't overly meaningful but often independent experts include them to support their conclusions.

Do you have the name of the test. It might help.

Also percentile usually means (and this is just a very rough illustration not exact) eg 20 th percentile, you were to put your child in the same room as 100 other children 20 children would roughly score lower and 80 higher.

Not sure what bit it is you need help on.....

Zzzzz is correct that is exactly what the test is about.

It is comparing your child's behaviours with a sample of individuals with autism and seeing how many matched.

So in a room of 100, 2 would show similar behaviour to your child for the 2nd percentile.

The thing to remember is that different segments may we be weighted differently and even a 2nd percentile is still saying showing behaviours that matched individuals with autism.

Me too. I think that is probably the most useful element of those scores. It's as close as you will get to a diagnosis without actually being a diagnosis
