the local council has decided that we can only have a g/f property because of dh heart problems. i really really do not want a flat as we have 2 young girls and i feel that it is also in their best intrests that they have a garden to play in. so the battle is on for a bungalow. there is a whole thread on this on the other subjects board, but thought i'd ask for help from some of you in case you have any tips for us. the council are saying that most bungalows are earmarked for the elderly and basically we dont stand a chance of getting one.

misdee, I don't have a scrap of advice for you, just wanted to say that that sounds bl**dy unfair to me. Hope someone has some advice that will help you get your bungalow xx

Thanks. after all the hassle today, and the housing officier turning up today and not on friday, and my place being a sh*thole, i just feel exhausted.

can anyone find any rights of children should have a access to an safe outdoor play area? i'm sure i read something about it once. (and considering 30 of our housing points are for having kids in a palce above ground floor and no play area, sure we can have one?)

I have no advice either Misdee, but I know these battles can be draining, so good luck. We live in a bungalow, which is brilliant for ds2 getting around, as it means he can follow his brother and sisters around harrassing them, and we don't have to carry him up and down stairs. But we are not council housed, so I can't help. Sorry.

Have you tried housing associations? Homeswap schemes?
