Quick question.

If you visited the paediatrician in regards your child experiencing any developmental delays/differences or suspected ASD, did the paediatrician offer a blood test to check for chromosome abnormalities? And if so how long did you wait for the results and how did you receive those results?

(My son had bloods taken and the doctor said up to six weeks for the result and that was about five plus weeks ago but I neglected to ask if we'd get them in the post or via a phone call and can't help but feel a bit anxious now I know it won't be long to find out.)

No we didn't have bloods taken but were prescribed meds and so any questions and I feel fine phoning her secretary. I always leave a message and if she doesn't get back to me I phone again. In your position I would do the same. The secretary I have always spoken to is the real gate keeper and actually knows as much as anyone could about the process even if she can't give any medical advice. Sure you could get the information about how to find out quickly and put your mind at rest. Check tomorrow and then you will know the timeframe :-)

We did, my DD had to have them, previous to any diagnosis. It was to rule out other causes first, apparently! I.e. Fragile X

We weren't given a time frame and I just assumed it worked on the usual if there's something you'll hear and we didn't hear anything. Our next visit to the paed was 6 months later and she then apologised for not letting us know.

So not much help! But in your situation there's no harm in calling and asking how long it's going to be, how will you be contacted etc.

I took the advice and called. The secretary said the Doctor should write to us when the results are back whatever the result.
