A couple we are very close with have received a "red flag" from a paediatrician overseas concerning their 1.5-year-old DS, and told that they need to consult with a neurologist & have his genome sequenced (?). I was wondering if people here can help with some recommendations.

Basically, the three areas of concern are:

  • weak muscle tone (cruises for short distances, crawls, but doesn't walk yet)
  • just 1 word, and not necessarily used for what it signifies.
  • low response levels (blank stare, for the most part, but rarely comes up with short bursts of laughter).

Paediatrician has said that any one of these may not be worrying but all together put up a "red flag".

Where would you recommend the family to go upon their return to London, to have their DS checked out? Would you be able to recommend a neurologist and a paediatrician?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Ideally try for a referral to Great Ormond Street.

Thank you. Any names in that hospital that you would recommend?
