Got report from CDC Asessment today

Diagnosis: R presents with lack of pretend play skills,echolalic and delayed language skills and minimal social reciprocity. This could suggest a diagnosis of ASD, however further asessment and observation will be needed to clarify the diagnosis.

We havent seen the Paediatrician yet, we are seeing her in Feb, so im a bit confused, R does show traits of ASD but they are saying more observation, is this usual?

Also, i dont understand what minimal social reciprocity is, could anyone clarify it if they know what it means?

I phoned the specialist HV who a couple of months ago told me to "get things into perspective" re R,s special needs as she didnt think that R had any traits of ASD and she went very quiet and said "well you have always said what you thought R,s SN are and you have stood up to every professional and i respect you to that you are the key to every thing that happens around R

blimey what a change around, she asked did i want to ASD outreach team to go into nursery and i have said yes.

At least we wont have the same situation with R that we have had with M and for that im grateful.

I've forgotten how old R is but we had a similar thing with ds2. His assessment report listed all the traits of ASD but the Paed wanted to wait before giving an official dx. He got the official dx about a year later when he was 3.

she will be 3 in april, so maybe we wont have so long to wait, hopefully, because i want to know, at least we wont be waiting like we have with DS he was 9 before we found out.

We had same thing Jenk - autistic traits noted at 2.5 but had to wait until 3.3 for dx.
