The statement is ready to be finalised and will have Elective Home Education named in part 4!!

The SEN team said they are going to speak to the vocational college that Dd3 wants to attend in yr 10 about provisionally naming them ready for the admission process which start next september!

In the meantime we are de schooling and doing lots of exercise and mooching around parks and outdoory places.

Thanks to everyone who supported me through 3 tribunals which were exhausting but empowering!

Good luck to anyone else who is on a similar journey!

Congrats Ineed it's so good to have things final and move on. You gave me good advice and encouragement a while back when I was thinking about home ed for my DDs and, we're in Scotland so different system, we got our GIRFEC Liaison Group final decision/go ahead last week for home ed with online schooling provision. We're tentatively starting the online study but lots of time for picnics, while the sun shines, and plenty of doing nothing too. Good luck to you and your DD Flowers

frazzledbutcalm · 29/09/2015 12:38

That's great Ineed

I didn't realise it was such a struggle to be allowed to home school Blush

We're still thinking along those lines for dd. Do you need an EHCP for government to fund anything? I have no idea how anything works.

Ineedmorepatience · 29/09/2015 16:55

It isnt hard in England frazzled we just wanted to get the statement as good as we could before we de registered so that if and when Dd3 goes back into education it will be ready for her.

We will get no funding towards home ed because we have elected to remover her from school. You can in theory get funding now under the new rules but you have to be able to prove that there is no provision suitable to meet your childs needs available!

My LA are gits so that would invlove another tribunal and we dont have the energy for that!

Well shit that's a bugger Ineed Sad Angry

I assumed the LA would have to pay for some kind of tuition. Wishful thinking eh? They damn well should, our system is wrong!

Hope all goes well.

Flowers for you
Cake for dd

Well done! God I would live to stick my fingers up and walk away but I know I'm not up to home ed. I could all things science - but English and spelling.

I know your doing the right thing. To be free from the sausage factory.

Ineedmorepatience · 29/09/2015 22:37

Thanks 2boys Smile

You inspire me. I'm amazed how you do everything. You and your dd deserve to be happy and free from this stress. It's like being caught in a spiders web. Paralysed and waiting to have your life sucked out of you.

Im longing to be free.

Youarentkiddingme · 30/09/2015 07:07

Yay ineed Grin

Finally some closure and a educational future that suits your dd in sights Flowers

deadwitchproject · 30/09/2015 12:24

Well done but shocking that you don't automatically get funding for HE. Good luck to you.

Ineedmorepatience · 30/09/2015 19:02

Thanks youarent closure was what we needed Grin

Deadwitch Nope I think even in really helpful LA's [is there such a thing?] It is a case of having to prove that there is no setting that can meet the needs of your child, its never just about choice!

It was important to me to de register before headcount day so that the school would get no more funding for Dd3, they had money for her last yr that they didnt use on her when they could have done more to support her!

Anyway its over now Smile

There are loads getting them now. The new legislation seems to be helping Smile.

Raising my Wine to you - you've done a brilliant job Star.

Ineedmorepatience · 30/09/2015 20:46

That is really good new streaky it will mean parents like me wont have to keep their child in school for longer than they can cope with purely to troll through the system!! Which is already failing them of course!

I couldnt have done any of it without the support I have had off this board and my advocate! It is very difficult as many of us know to be one parent standing up against a massive organisation like an LA but with the right guidance and support we can and are doing it!

Some have said that we shouldnt have walked away, we should have forced the LA to fund our HE program but my feeling still remains that I would want them to interfere!! This way we get to do it our way and Dd3 will hopefully find that learning can be fun again like she did in her pre school yrs!

We are all Star's on here Grin

Same here, but like you I wanted control and was able to keep it if the LA didn't have money invested in his education. There's no such thing as a free lunch, or HE, especially in the current financial climate.

I agree with you - there are some amazing people on here, with sackfuls of experience and great advice to share. We're lucky to have the benefit of their wisdom.
