Ok. I have a 5 year old dd1 with ASD. Today I am at the end of my rope.
She seems to have bowel control trouble associated with the ASD so I am told
She is constantly going through cycles of cleanliness and soiling. Today and from before the weekend its soiling. I am fed up totally of changing knickers and throwing them away cos they are too soiled to save. Not that buying them matters...
School are trying with her but they refuse to put any cream on her dreadfully sore bottom which she developed over the course of the morning yesterday. As a result I was called in to deal with her.. I live a 25 min walk from the school adn don't drive. I also have a dd2 who is a toddler...

I know I am not as bad off as some on here but I am ready to throw it all in at the minute

thanks for reading my vent.... it helps to write it down. I am going to toddler session with dd2 now.

Is she seeing anyone about her bowel problems. Simon Murch is meant to be really good at sorting this sort of stuff out (often its caused by impacted feaces apparently). We sorted out ds1's (minor) bowel problems with saccromyces.

I REALLY pisses me off that so many autistic children have these major bowel problems and no-one does anything to help, and almost none of the medical profession even take it seriously- and the man who did a lot got hounded out of the country. Why should our children have to live with it. Grrr grrrr grrrr!!!!!! (My friend's dd has similar problems she has been battling trying to get stuff done for years).

thanks jimjams... we were going to a continence clinic for a while - but when she went into a clean phase we were discharged! I fought to stay on and I think I will ring them and tell them its bad again...

JJ - did Mike Ash give you the saccromyces? I'm sure you've told me this already but am befuddled and can't remember...

yep he did sphil- he's very keen on it- it really did seem to sort out ds1's poo issues, and have heard the same from others as well. It's one of the easier supplements to giive as well.

hiya, can one of you tell me what this supplement is, time to start fighting for my little man i think, he was 5 a couple of wks ago, is statemented but as yet still not diagnosed asd, i queeried his bowel movements when he was 2 yrs old and was tested and told clear, he was then tested for coeliacs cos i hassled at the child development centre, last visit, which is now nearly 1 yr ago, i was still told toddler diarrohea, he is still in nappies and his support worker at school has commented also that he seems to have no control over it, they are gonna have to do something, but in the meantime can anyone give me any advice on intolerances-i know gluten being the biggy, or what this supplement is, like i said, i think its time to start fighting for the poor little fella now. thanks in advance.
