Is there such a thing as a taste-free toothpaste?

And by that I don't mean a toothpaste tube that plays the greatest hits of BonyM every time you squeeze it.

Ds2 hates the taste of toothpaste. I must have tried ten different brands so far with variations of minty, strawberry and fruity. He hates them all. He'll let me brush his teeth for about 5-10 seconds if I use just water but I'm not sure this is a long-term solution.

Any ideas?

don't know if it helps but ds(14 nt) hates toothpaste. I get him the fennel one from holland and barratt.

Hope it's okay for me to chip in on a SN thread. I just wanted to say that Weleda do a range of different toothpastes ranging from salt to calendula. They're all v nice.

corrina - My practical skills are virtually non-existent but that's the kind of thing that dh would probably be good at and would like to try. Thankyou.

2shoes - Do you know it never occurred to me to try somewhere like H&B? And dh practically lives in there some days.

Suedonim - Of course it's okay to chip in. That link is excellent so thankyou. It looks like they're having some technical problems at the moment but I've bookmarked it so that I can look trough it properly when it's fixed.

(My H key is sticking so apologies for any that come out as 'tankyou')

we had a swiss friend come to stay recently and he left some stuff called elmex which tastes - to me - vaguely of bananas. v. mild. you might be able to get some online?

I used to order a plain one from Australia made by a company called Soul Pattinson - it has no flavourings in and we used it for the DS1's elimination diet. It does taste slightly bitter though. I haven't ordered it for a while, but if you were interested, I could post details.
