My daughter has Aspergers, agoraphobia and anxiety. She rarely leaves the house. We are supposed to be trying to get her statemented after the Summer, but is there any support meanwhile? Do you need to be statemented to have a social worker come out and help your child with skills i. e leaving the house??

SN chat and children are busier, so you might get more replies there from people more knowledgeable than me.

Anything that happens in the home tends to be largely independent of what happens at school so doesn't need a statement in place. Rather than a statement, what you will be going for next term would be an Education, Health and Care plan, so since she has needs which severely impact on her ability to leave the house, at all, it would be worth asking children and adults services for a core assessment as this can feed into the EHCP assessment process, as unlike the old statements, it's supposed to include social care input, where relevant.
