Secondary Schools

I hope there's someone out there who can help.

I'm looking for a school for my son for when he starts secondary school in 2016. I am determined to find the BEST school for him even if I need to move!
DS was originally diagnosed with dyspraxia, then sensory processing disorder and now MLD. I also suspect he's on the spectrum! He is struggling to read and write and probably operates at the level of a 5 year old. He loves anything practical and/ or outside.

All the special schools I've looked at in my local area only seem to offer GCSES, which to me seem completely the wrong form of qualification for him.
Are there any schools out there that offer a functional literacy and numeracy programme along side practical skills such as gardening, farming etc?
I'm open to all suggestions!
Many thanks.

My son has profound dyslexia and dyscalculia. He goes to Slindon college in West Sussex. His interests are identical to your son (farming/horticulture/motor mechanics etc) this school does offer what you are asking and is why we chose the school. It's not without other issues, in our case we find the social structure is an issue because where the small classes are great for tailored learning it's not so great finding friends. However, I have yet to find the perfect place when your child "doesn't fit in the box". We do get involved with lots of outside activities to compensate and meet other children (young farmers for one!)if you want to PM me for any further info, happy to talk but yes, schools do exist!!
