Hi everyone - Probably not the ideal place to put this wee message - BUT I only got out of hospital this week with DS1 and his surgery, when low and behold I received a call at 7:30am. My Uncle was in a car crash. I have just arrived home now from seeing him now
Thank goodness he is alive, as I think his seatbelt saved his life. Apparently, he had just been down to the local shopping mall(been to the local supermarket) and on his way home, he was struck by a car at high speed, which crashed into his 7 door van. The car was carrying 4 young teenagers: 2 girls aged 17 years, 1 girl aged 16 years and a 14 year old boy. They went straight thru a "Stop sign' didn't give way to my uncle. The driver of the car is dead,(17 year old girl) and the other 17year old is in intensive care (looks like she won't make it) The 3rd girl has moderate injuries. The 14 year boy, tried to escape from the scene of the accident, but was later picked up by the police. My uncles car is in the local newspaper - as the bodies had to be cut out from the vehicles. The 14 year old boy was known to the police and he has shown no remorse!!! This high speed incident happened: 1pm (lunchtime) on a quiet street. So, far my uncle has broken rips, and on oxygen with damage to his lungs, underwent surgery at 1am this morning for a huge 'hole'in his arm, and they are going to operate again on Monday to try and fix his arm up. All his teeth were smashed, he has bruises to most of his body. He has never had a car crash in his life, and he has never been in hospital for anything either - He is 64 years of age, but the paper printed "The driver of the van was a man in his 40's" So that was the only nice thing that has happened today for him.

Sorry to ramble - but feel so sorry for my uncle lying in hospital

So sorry to hear your news How horrid for him and the family.

That young lad needs some punishment to make him see where he is oging wrong. At this rate he won't be aline much longer. You would have though having his friend killed would be sufficient

So sorry again (((hugs)))

Oh god bagpipes how awful. so sorry to hear about this. I hope he makes a rapid recovery.

Can't believe that the 14 year old wouldn't show remorse, he must really be a wrong 'un.

Oh Bagpipes.
What an awful thing to happen. Such a waste of a young life too.
Thinking of you and your family. xxx

Thanks everyone for your kind comments - I'll pop up and see him tomorrow and see how he is doing. He's a lonely man, who never ever married, and he has no children. (Would of been a great dad too!!)

Thanks again everyone. I have just arrived home from the hospital tonight, and boy he looks worst tonight than last night!!! He is so worried about the big surgery on Monday - apparently, there appears to be alot of nerve damage in the right arm (I am hoping this is not permanent!!!) But it looks like once they have repaired it, they need to do quite a few skin grafts. They have a plastics surgeon and orthopaedic surgeon involved, as there is broken bones, and this huge awful whole on his arm >He looked pretty down in the dumps tonight - I think the shock of the impact of the whole ordeal is getting ontop of him - understandable of course!!! The police said, that it was reported that this car with these 4 teenagers had been going thru this long Avenue (very straight, but lots and lots of STOP signs, and Give Ways) - BUT this car, had chosen not to slow down, or stop at any of them.

Will let you know how successful his big surgery is after Monday .
