With lots of new posters joining the SN board I thought it might help if we all introduce ourselves. I keep forgetting who's who too. (Try saying that after a few drinks! )

I'll start:

I have 3 children. My 2 boys are aged 6yrs and 3yrs and both have a diagnosis of high-functioning autism. Dd is 8mths old (or "isn't a number yet" as ds1 says ) and so far seems very NT.

If you leave me here in the Unanswered Threads section I shall plague you all with Davros' favourite poetry.

Hi, I'm Peachy

Three boys, ds1 aged almost 7, has ASD (HFA). DS2 Mr NT himself, he's 6 in january. DS3 is 3.4 and has just entered the DX system though we don't know what with, he just is delayed.

Student at Uni, lives in Wales but from Somerset and miss my family and friends and married to Dh who works nights in the haulage industry. Like cats, cakes and getting very drunk occasionally

I was a secondary english and history teacher in a former life - gave it up when we came back to Aus and have not regretted one minute of it - enjoyed doing it while I did but am glad not to be doing it anymore. Hope to go on and do a Masters degree in sn and early childhood - be an early childhood sn specialist - one day !

PeachyClair · 15/11/2006 21:09

Sorry should ahve said, DS in full time MS school, no support and SENCO only admitted any problems yesterday. Which actually is a huge celebration for us- we can move forwards now.
DS3 is in the school nursery, where they adore him and he gets laods of support, as his problems are more easi;y seen- he has had some regression (eg has lost all toileting skills) and has language delays. He's also gorgeous and a teddy bear

DS2 is my sanity, he is caring and loving and reminds me it's not my fault.

DS1 also has a percentile for langauge of 95 and a language age of 11, so not only can he be difficulyt, he can blinkin' lie about it oo

Can't call DS1 sweet tbh, but he's adorable in his own, adult-like, my baby sort of way. And they're all beloved and beautiful.

LOL Fio!

Just my luck for half the thread title to disappear.

It's so good to see so many new people (as well as the 'oldies' of course ).

Hi - I'm 31, work F/T (although have just resigned from my current contract - yeehah!) and have one dd, aged 2.5.
My dd has no diagnosis, however she has CP, PMLD and a visual impairment and reflux. She is an absolute monkey, and very smiley indeed. A real smasher in fact.

Hi all. I am relatively new to MN but have found it an invaluable source of comfort lately..so thank you!

I am 42, live in Bucks and a married mum to 2 DS's. DS1 is almost 16 and a real 'high flyer' and DS2 is 11 and has dx of Aspergers Syndrome; OCD and severe behaviour problems. He was only dx 2.5 years ago as school insisted there was nothing wrong?!

I am disabled but manage to work part time, supporting staff in Early Years settings who work with children with Special Needs and their parents and children themselves.

Should be an 'expert' but it does not make it any easier when it is your own child - in fact it is even harder - but I can, at least, truly empathise with the parents I work with!

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 16/11/2006 09:10

Crikey Fio - is dd almost 7 - in my mind she's still 4!

I have 3, ds1 is 18, ds2 15 and dd 13. God, 3 teens, save me! Dd has significant (read long and technical) congenital heart disease and a leg length discrepancy which we hope, following surgery last year, is well on its way to being resolved.

Blossomhill · 16/11/2006 09:58

Hi. I am 32 and have 2 children.

Ds almost 9, completely nt

Dd 7 and has recently received her dx of AS and Adhd. She is currently doing very well in our local SALT unit.

PeachyClair · 16/11/2006 10:10

Fio- didn't relaise your daughter and my Sam were almost identical ages, Sam's 7 on december 3rd.

MrsForgetful · 16/11/2006 10:14

I have 3 boys...13,10 and 7

the eldest has Aspergers and ADHD
the middle has Aspergers
the youngest is in my opinion like my eldest....and school have finally agreed that he does need 'support' and 'looking into his problems'....

so i parent as having 3 with special needs...and it works!

i also similar to my boys...and have now been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD)...getting recognised as an adult with ASD is hard...so for now i am content that they have finally agreed i'm not just depressed or anxious

MrsForgetful · 16/11/2006 10:15

i'll be 40 next year!

MrsForgetful · 16/11/2006 10:16

COPPERTOP...when i saw this thread title...and then saw U started it...I thought you were going to announce you were pregnant!!!!!!!!

Tiggiwinkle · 16/11/2006 10:20

Hi-I"m Tiggiwinkle. DH and I have 5 DSs, aged 25, 24, 17, 13 and 7!
DS5 is AS; DS3 is dyspraxic and still being assessed for AS. (I have a strong feeling that 4 of my 5 are AS but it is something that was not even thought of when my eldest 2 were small. They dont want to be assessed at present).
DS5 attends mainstream-doing well this year so far. We had a terrible time with him in year 1, when he was DX aged 6.

Homsa · 16/11/2006 10:21

Hi all, I haven't posted much on this board (but have been lurking for ages, so feel I know you all ). I have a DS who is 3.4 and was recently diagnosed with autism. We have just started an ABA programme for him (thanks again to everybody who advised me on my thread about therapies!!!). He's absolutely loving it (in fact I can hear him giggling with his tutor atm), and his language is coming on in leaps and bounds now!

I also have a DD, who is 6 months old and exactly like her brother was at that age, so I'm a bit worried about her...

Oh, and we live in South Yorkshire.

MrsForgetful · 16/11/2006 11:33

homsa...welcome!

I love it when 'lurkers' join us! I lurked for weeks before i ever posted!!!

coppertop · 16/11/2006 12:42

If I really did find out I was pregnant now I'd be too busy running away screaming to start an announcement thread.

Welcome, Homsa.

Any more lurkers want to come out and post? Go on. You know you want to!

OP posts:
Saker · 16/11/2006 12:45

CT - you really found the most effective way of getting everyone to open and read this thread

coppertop · 16/11/2006 12:54

All part of the plan of course...ahem....

And to think I didn't even do a proper SN board announcement when I really was pg with dd.

OP posts:
delllie · 16/11/2006 13:26

I read the board every day but hardly post - sorry. I am mum to DD who will be 5 in January, she has GDD, hypotonia, reflux, short stature, chronic feeding problems but is the happiest soul I have ever known and I am so proud that she is my daughter Also mum to DS who is 9 on Sunday who is NT, a budding footballer who I hope will make it as a proffessional footballer so he can keep me in the life I'm accoustomed to when I'm older

saintmaybe · 16/11/2006 13:49

Also pretty new, just moved from lurker to posting sometimes... I have ds1, 9, nt, clever, funny but very sad atm, ds2, 7, autistic, veers between idiosyncratic, hilarious, affectionate, chatty, and unpredictable, aggressive, unreachable. But always gorgeous. He's at a special school with an autism unit. And dd, who's 2 1/2, very nt, very full-on, very lovely, very much in charge of both boys. And dp. And me. And I'm definitely more maybe than saint today. Feel like I know some of you and v. happy to have found mn, and esp. the sn board. Hi, everyone.

theheadlessgirl · 16/11/2006 15:02

its lovely to hear about everyone
saintmaybe - why is ds1 sad atm?? I feel our NT dc get overlooked sometimes..... Hope he's ok xx
