Anybody any tips or tricks to get an appointment with her. I know from reading up that you have to wait forever for an appointment but her PA doesn't seem to be replying to any emails or answering the phone. I understand they must be hugely busy is it just a case of persevering?

I didn't manage it in the end. At one point I had to call, on repeat dial, all day for 3 days before the phone was even en answered!

I have up and used Margo Sharp instead. Not without admin issues still, but in comparison they were minor, and MS was fabulous and produced a brilliant report.

I had problems too. I emailed phoned and emailed again saying I couldn't get hold of her and she answered eventually.

There's a EP like this who assessed my friends son, never wrote the report or billed for fees but spent a day assessing. Bonkers!

I've had to put a complaint in re his NHS Paed as Useless would be an understatement! It's school Run time in a minute so please don't think I'm drip feeding but there's serious behaviours Ds has exhibited that the Paed has ignored. They dismissed my concerns about his Anxiety. Because you know... Parenting isn't it? .

MS is based in Birmingham but obviously travels. it was this time last year I contacted both MS and DK - MS came back quite quickly as her husband does her admin and I got an appointment in july - she did dx my dd with asd - I then also heard back from MS and would get an appointment in sept so took my dd to see her as well - DK confirmed the dx

Yes, MS is based in Birmingham, but travels to where you need her (at cost, obv)

This worked well for us, as I needed her to see dd2 in school - I knew what the outcome would be, but school were insisting on no issues, so it was useful to us to b able to say 'bunhse was observed doing XYZ in school/lesson/play time, which means ABC, or DEF, as described by respected professional', and I know she had a few chats with dd2's teachers and pointed out a few thigns too.

Right. I think SP must have been reading mumsnet because my phone 'pinged' whilst I was out and it was a reply from SP!
It was quite long and detailed and now I'm not sure how to write a reply email to convince her / them to take it on. Background. He has a CAF open. He's been through camhs (signed off as there's no obvious issues as far as they are concerned). His Anxiety levels have been through the roof in recent months and can't get a re referral back to camhs for love nor money.
Basically. His NHS Paed got a 'but he's fine for us' report from school. An hour meltdown in front of the head. Bolting out of classes and being separated from his best mate in class 'because he's too naughty'. But he's fine for all paperwork purposes .
We had someone from the Behaviour Team come out and at the time, the lady who came out, Ds didn't make any eye contact with her, kept going back to the area rug to body rock (self soothing thing), didn't say one word to her and when asked a question - Ds just growled in response.
Behaviour Teams suggestion? To send me on another Parenting Course. Apparently. They recognised all the difficulties but they usually refer on to a Paeditrician, but seeing as Ds is already under a - - useless-- one, their hands were already tied apparently. .
Paed said in their reports I suggested ASD. I didn't! They raised 'autistic traits' in their initial report. But then at the second appointment said 'Ds can't have ASD. He talks to me okay'.
The School say he's sometimes withdrawn (he's not - it's his coping mechanism for all the noise sights etc for six hours) and senco successfully put me off applying for a statement because I was told 'he wasn't severe enough'. I wished I knew then what I know now because I'd have pushed for EVERYTHING but now I'm left with a little boy who still struggles so much.

In the email. SP has asked for reports from School and any professionals involved. If I send them. Is she not just going to come to the same conclusion that DSs Paed had come to? Have those who have seen her found that she picks up on the subtle things? He's forever running into roads (No sense of awareness or danger or social protocols. I. E at a festival last year he walked straight up to the security guard he hadn't known from Adam and hugged her). And yes re the Bolting we do the usual. Weighted backpacks (Godsend!) etc etc. This is all normal behaviour to his current Paed Apparently. DS is 'too obvious' to have ASD or ADHD and the Paed thinks it's because he comes from a broken family. I just feel like I've had my head hit against a brick wall repeatedly and I don't want to say yes to an appointment with DK where I'm just going to paying £££'s for the pleasure of hearing the same thing. What would you put back on the reply to SP to make it stand out?

Just put a the things in you have said. DK triages the reports before she will see you. I think in our case the paper work said asd, but interview said most likely not, mind you now I have read the schools reply she might consider it :0/

By the way the "care" your son has had so far sounds shocking.

My ds pead said he doesn't have asd as he smiles and makes eye contact. I had to point out the NICE guidelines - but we are still waiting.

I already know the school will say 'but he's fine for us'. So it won't be worth the paper the report is written on. Do you think it would be helpful holding out until July until the official end or year reports come out? In the School Report they basically said "DS is on target for everything". It wasn't until a recent CAF meeting that they dropped themselves in it by admitting he was indeed behind in September. I raised this with the Paed at the next appointment as was just told "I think you have a problem with the School". .

Then again. From the things I've read about DK I think she's probably well averse to having schools tell her 'but x is okay with us'.

bjkmummy thankyou for that. I think that's what DS is missing. Everyone who has observed DS knows him well. So of course he's going to fine for them.
