went and had a nosy on the dec pregnancy thread and I saw that you only get a 20 week scan down your way...and debating about a nuchal fold scan... what do you think you will do?? Just being nosy..

Wanted to compare notes since I have seen medical professionals with this pregnancy - we too have moved to a different area and they want to test me for everything and anything - including a fetal cardiac scan before I go to Aus... I said no to a nuchal fold, no to bloodtests and no to the fetal cardiac scan.

Had my 'dating' scan on Friday and all looked well although it was strange. The sonographer asked if I had had a scan before and I said yes.. in a kinda been there done that voice, and she then enquired as to what sort and so I mentioned that dd had down's syndrome and a fetal cardiac scan she nodded.

She then asked if we were having a nuchal fold and I said no - she then however made a point of checking the nucal fold anyway .. rather strange I thought.

I would also love to compare notes with you as we leave for aus in 32/31 days and it will be interesting to see what happens there - whether they will try and pressure me to have a battery of tests or not.. luckily it will be too late for some of them.

Anyway - congrats and all the best... sorry for raving on. Hope you do not succumb to the dire morning sickness I have had.... hopefully it should start easing off.

eidsvold- I didn't even know you were pregnant- I haven't been paying any attention to pregnancy threads- until now! I knew you were thinking about it though- Congratulations!

I wuld kind of like an early "viability" scan - just because I think its better to find out that your baby has anencephaly or your pregnancy is molar or a blighted ovum earlier rather than later iyswim. I doubt I'll do the 2 hour drive for it though. I don't expect I'll get much pressure as they don't seem to bother with autism as they can't pick it up iyswim. I haven't even been to the GP's yet though so I'm not sure what the procedure is down here.

How strange that the sonographer checked the nuchal fold. Did she calculate the risks? Strange if you'd said you didn't want that!

I tend not to get morning sickness- just some nausea and exhaustion. Good, but in some ways less reassuring iykwim.

Anyway congratulations- and I'd be reaqlly interested to know how you get on in Aus.

Sorry, to barge in, but I also had no idea you are preg eidsvold. Congratulations !

she did not calculate a risk and she did say that it was not accurate etc ( compared with a 'proper' nucal fold scan) but she said it looked 'normal'...

13 weeks and counting.... due early November.

Well we were hoping to start trying for another baby when we got to Australia but you know best laid plans and all that.
