So, What are the "flags" for ASD?

If you don't mind me asking? Have had some concerns for DS1 for a while but not wanting to say in case its nothing to worry about! IYSWIM

Flame, sorry i had to go and msn been loading for 5 mins so far....

Hes 3.5, prob nothing but its a niggle that won't go away

The things that stood out with ds1 and ds2 were:

• Not answering to their name;

• Not seeming to understand even very simple instructions, eg "Pick up your toys";

• Sensory problems: hating noise, hating light, not liking anything to touch the skin (ds2), not using hands (ds1)

• Never trying to show me things or let me know what they wanted.

• First words were abstract things like numbers, colours & shapes.

• Horrendous screaming meltdowns if the usual routine was changed.

• Eating only foods of a certain texture and not particularly caring if they didn't eat at all.

Both boys were fairly placid and would quite happily be by themselves without caring.
