I think you can request a different date, look on the sendist website and see what it says

you can ask for the date to be changed but the tribunal usually ask you to speak to the LA first to see what they say - guess most LA will be agreeable as would delay the hearing I guess.

also depends how crucial you feel your witness if and if you can go ahead without them

That is risky, as I do have other witnesses, but that one is crucial too... Also there's a risk of an adjournment...

Might you be better off with an adjournment so that your witness can attend?

I had a adjournment, knew it was coming and should have agreed as it was costly ( still had to pay witness)

I'm not sure if I want to adjournment, simply because the month which my tribunal hearing would be, if adjourned, will be in September.

We had an ajournment it came out of the blue no one expected it and was due to Dd3 having just transferred to secondary school and the school saying a term wasnt enough time to assess her

Adrianna, really only you can decide. It depends on how important the witness is and how well prepared your case is. It would probably be best to contact someone like Ipsea or an education lawyer and see if they can have a look at your papers.
