How long for a blue badge to arrive?.....

We heard today that our blue badge refusal decision has been overturned, following our appeal.

How long does it usually take for the actual badge to arrive? They said it is send from a central location for all blue badge applications.

Also, if you get refused, do not be afraid to appeal! Apparently ours was borderline being refused again, but we won!

They are issued by individual Local Authorities, so waiting times will vary depending on their workload. Ours was over 2 weeks the first time, but it was issued coming up to xmas and it was further delayed by public holidays, postal backlog etc.

The renewal was just a few days, but the person re-issuing it said it's not likely to be renewed again unless the recipient gets HRM of DLA or whatever the PIP equivalent will be at that time.

There are over 2 years to go before I need to test that, but I would appeal if it was refused.

Several weeks for a renewal, but on appeal I would expect the chances of something getting lost in the post, mis-filed, used for a shopping list or shredded to be higher.

So definitely worth checking where is has got to after 2 weeks, and weekly after that.

We applied, they spoke to DDs GP and we received our DDs blue badge all within a week.

Well done OP, I'm glad your decision was overturned.

My daughter's application was refused last year and I had to have it reviewed with additional evidence. She has had a badge since she was 5 and was 16 last year! IMHO the new application process is aimed at making a previously straightforward process now very difficult.

It was given in the end but not looking forward to trying to get another in 2 years.
