Hi, everyone, i dont have the chance to post on here very often, but i was just wandering if anyone knows if id be entitiled to have a bath put in my house. I have a 3 year old who has asd , he is terrified of the shower, and is too big for the baby bath. I have 2 other small children and another on the way. Bathtime is a bit of a nightmare in our house!
I tried asking social services but they were very unhelpfull.

you could try the family fund link here they are very good and can help with all sort of things, you can get tumble dryers, washing machines, driving lessons, holidays,
they will give you money towards it not pay for the full amount.
you need to choose 3 things that you need help with, last year we got awarded just under £600, it was for a holiday, driving lessons and to help decorate ds bedroom.

ds is 5 and also ASD, hope that helps you

sorry should add you can apply only once a year, we have to put a new claim in soon

snuggles3 · 28/10/2006 11:57

Thankyou for that idea redbull, i will try that , we asked the council to do it and they refused. Cant afford to pay for the full amount for it to be done, so i will try that option.
You have changed your name havent you?! What does it mean?

im now 11 weeks we had our 1st scan last week ds came with us and was really excited, he is going round telling everyone mommy got baby in tummy!!

hes got his own scan picture and dp has told him hes got to chose all the baby toys so he is really excited about this, i took him to woolys on friday to get him a toy and he would only look at the baby toys, hes going to be so loving to the baby when it arrives, he loves sitting with me feeling the baby move and talks to my belly aswell !!

redbullbloodandbump · 29/10/2006 12:08

the only thing is he doesnt understand is how long the baby takes, he comes of the school bus and asks if the baby is in the house, hes now asking people on the larger side if they have a baby in their tummy but thankfully they cant understand him as he has speech problems but we know what hes trying to say!!

snuggles3 · 29/10/2006 19:49

Ahh thats lovely, will this be your second baby?
Im 12 weeks now, but ds1 doesnt understand, but he was gentle with ds2 and dd1 when they were tiny.

There is also the Disabled Facilities Grant look at www.direct.gov.uk and search, sorry I can't get link to work
It is no longer means tested for people who have a disabled child under 18 and is for up to £25,000 and is for just the sort of thing you want. You may have to educate your Council about it not being means tested any more and if you need help I'd speak to the NAS Helpline.
