Asd and adhd

My ds has been taking meds for 3 weeks for adhd, he has been very reluctant to take them and hates them. He has no side effects other than he feels he misses his old self. We see know real differance in him accept what the meds appear to have achieved, a much calmer, focused child. The school have reported the same. All good so far. My ds is due to have an EP soon, this was arranged pre meds, and I think that the EP will not get a true picture of his needs whilst taking them. Due to the time it has taken to wait for the EP to do the assesment, I am wondering if I am doing a disservice to DS as I am very sure lots of help will be implemented if they see him in his natural 'state'. The daily battle of taking his meds which he believes he doesn't need, could in time (and I can see it coming) result in outright refusal. Which if we miss the slot so to speak with the EP who may think nothing's wrong, we could end up with no help and no statement which the school are behind him having. Please could I have some advice on this?

Tricky. The EP will need to take down a mini-history of dc so the meds will form part of that whether dc is taking them at the time or not.

The school will tell the EP how much difference the meds made.

Does dc still need help in the classroom even on his meds?

And is it an LA EP or an independent EP?

Hi Senvet , yes ds still needs support in the class room. And he currently leaves the class for 5 hours a week for supported work, eg, maths, comprehension, pe, social behaviour, reading. I am unsure whether he will continue with the meds for many reasons. The EP is an LA one. Does that make a differance do you know? I am unsure how things are goin to be for DS as his asd has become more apparent since taking his meds. It's a bit of a balancing act.
