Equasym XL - dosage change

DS was diagnosed with ADHD in July last year and was put on Equasym XL 20mg. This worked brilliantly - my DS was still my DS but was less fidgety, less impulsive. All was going well.

Around December, DS had reverted to how he was pretty much before he was medicated. We had an appointment with the consultant last week and his dose was increased to 30mg. To be honest, we haven't seen much of an improvement in DS (was hoping to get him back to where he was when he started on Meds) but have found that he is increasingly tired to the point where he had a nap yesterday!!! He seems to have a period of hyperactivity followed by a wave of lethargy. He also seems disinterested in doing anything.

DS has no issues going to sleep and is usually fast asleep within 10 minutes of getting into bed. He has always been an early riser so starting the day at 6.00 is not unusual (he does go to bed at 7.30 during the week & 8.00 at the weekend).

Has anyone had a similar experience when changing dose? Consultant told us to give it 2 weeks on the new dose and then to call and tell the secretary of any concerns or side effects and they will decide whether to schedule DS another appointment for 6 weeks time.
