I just got the letter awarding us DLA for DS who has an ASD.

Thank you all for all the things you've written about DLA.

I never specifically asked on here, I don't think but am prepared to be wrong, but I've read lots of threads about it, took the advice and we have high rate care and low rate mobility.

This will make a huge difference to our lives.

Well done. Make sure you call tax credits and let them know (if you get mrc or HRC you get more tax credits)

That's great toaster ... I too benefited from mn regarding DLA.
You can also apply for carers allowance if you're not working as well as enhanced tax credits mentioned by pp. Many attractions also give you a free carer entry ticket if you show your DLA award letter. We also now have a CEA card (for the cinema, yearly cost of £6) which gives a free carer ticket when the child ticket is purchased.

Yes, we used the Cerebra Guide as well. DH was much better than me at filling it in as I felt like I was betraying DS by saying what issues he had!

I'm not working so will apply for carers allowance but we don't get tax credits although I will check to see if we can get them.

Just found out about CEA card so will apply for that.

I just can't believe we've got the award! It will make our lives so much easier as it will mean DS can do some of the classes he wants and I can replace the things he breaks in a fury!
