Went to wheelchair clinic this morning and explained that DS is starting to realise that he has disablities and feels this a baby in the buggy, I thought they would look at him in the buggy and say he is fine in it, but they didn't even get the buggy opened up, just measured him up and brought in a Kids Active wheelchair, the first one was too big (12x12) so he has a 10x10, which he loves, and he was wheeling it around the room like a pro....
He seems happier with it, and he can't wait to use it, he has a school trip to the seaside in 10 days and the school want him to bring it as it will be a long day for him, I am going too as I think they will need me...

Lou can this organisation help? They might be the ones you're in touch with I guess

Thanks easy I haven't seen that before. I wonder if it would take as long as the w/c services though to get it all sorted. Will mull it over with dh tomorrow.

Just a quick question, sorry I have not read all the thread, but What are 'Wheelchair Services' referal fro GP needed, like in your are?
I find that it differs from area to area. Where I used to live I wanted a wheelshair to suite me. not just anyone, so they, Wheelchair Services, brought someone out from the facrory to meet me. I was measured, and a chair was desisigned to suite my needs and ability. It is a struggle sometimes but why should you have to fight for something that is yours by right?
I have got quite a bit of info that needs a home so if anyone wants int you can go through my Pa/seretary to Bunglie, Janh. Congrats in anycase and I hope it is all that you need it to be.'love Bunglie XX

Ooh cushion, make certain that the O.T. orders a 'Jelly cusion'at the very least. not expensive but come ready nade to fit all sizes of chair and my dh, pinches mine as it is so comfortable and uses it in the rocking chair!
There are tons of cusions ask to see a catalogue, after all your body is not designed to sit for 12 hours a day!

lou33 · 30/06/2004 21:38

He is Suzy, and we are looking forward not having to assemble so many bits together before he can go in his major (he has additional inserts with it)
