Shock Ed Psychs visit!

Our private Ed Psch visited yesterday to do an assessment on DS1 for us to put towards his Statutory Assessment. He did various language tests and I was absloutely amazed...!!

DS1 is now officially within the NORMAL RANGE (gasp!!!) for all areas of language!!

These are however all the lower end of the normal range but I am just soo haappy that he has done so well in just 6 months of our ABA programme. When we started he had absolutely nothing - NO receptive language AT ALL and just babbling.

No doubt the LEA will seize on this an an excuse not to statement (which would be ridiculous at he still has soo far to go) but I'm just so delighted that he's done so well!!!

that is soooo amazing.....but i will still get round to taping all the Autie programmes you are waiting for!!!

Seriously....is'nt it incredible what can be achieved if the 'right thing is done by the right person at the right time?'

The ed psyh will hopefully report that he had done brilliantly......but he is still autistic so still needs a statement. Maryz said recently that her son is doing great- but knows that if there is any reduction in available support then he will regress- i think this is what is hard for people to see- that is.... you can 'train' the child....and they appear to be 'NT'....but what they don't realise is the 'training' is 24/7...365 days a year....no holidays or days off....and for a lifetime.

Brilliant news and well done REX!!!

Great news R&B but know what you mean about how the LEA might exploit it. Language isn't the only part of the jigsaw. At least you can be prepared for what they might try. Its horrible having to prove to someone how "bad" your child's condition is and then, at other times, you have to prove how well they've done to justify your choice.....
Excellent news though, enjoy it.
