Aba targets question

Hi

Our program is focused on school now.

How do you increase mands and tacts while doing other targets- like responding to name, responding to peers, letters etc.

If we focus on adding mands, these targets suffer. The reason I ask is that we aren't able to do clicker counting in school and we don't have a home program now

thanks

Is there a reason why you can't do clicker counting at school? Out tutors use tiny clickers that they wear on a finger and are discrete.

Is your DC at school full time? Is there any way you could do half days so that you can have sessions at home or would the school make a room available so that you could do 'home' sessions whilst at school?

We also found with our DS that at school the number of mands wasn't as high as during home sessions but you should still be able to get some even if you aren't collecting data. Are you saying that you don't have any mand/tact programs at all anymore?

'If we focus on adding mands, these targets suffer.'

Eh? How so? If your therapists have a basic grasp of modifying the environment to increase mands (motivating operations) then these targets should come together easily. If, for example, reinforcers and access to them is contingent on responding to responding to peers then they go hand in hand.

Why aren't; you able to count mands in school? That is the easiest thing in the world to do.
Who is telling you this?
Sounds like your programme needs a radical rehaul.

I should have clarified. The school said last time they didn't want clickers. I will ask again if we can have them.

No data, no proof of progress.
Simple as that.
Plenty of ways to take data-tally marks on paper for example.
Why on earth would they not what something desirable being recorded?
What is the issue with a clicker?
