Warts/Molluscum help

Hello

My 8yr old has had molluscum for about four years. I froze the first one off with a kit we got from the chemist, but several months later more appeared and now there are loads all over her hand.

Doctors have said just wait, they will go in 18 months max, two years absolute max, but it has been four years now and they are just multiplying.

We have tried molludab, various herbal things, crank ideas from my MIL and god knows what else.

I know the one thing that DOESN'T work for us is waiting - there are just so many now and it is very unsightly - my poor child has enough problems without being covered in wart looking things that obviously people find a little unappealing.

Has anyone got any suggestions? I am desperate as they are multiplying and she hates them.

Oh LoupDeLou thank you so much. What an absolutely brilliant reply, THANKYOU. I have been to about four doctors and all have said the same thing, so was feeling hopeless.

I've made a GP appt for Tuesday which my husband will have to take her to, but it is a nice doc so I will tell him what you say so he is forearmed.

Would never have thought of a blood test.

just to let you know that ds had it for a year, and it was spreading all over his torso and right arm, and in the end, having tried tea tree oil and iodine for a long time, I squeezed as many as I could, getting the white head out of them, and them dabbed them with a cotton bud soaked in hydrogen peroxide solution. it was uncomfortable for him, but then they all healed rapidly. It seems to trigger an immune response. HTH.

DD has also had them for 4 years. She's spreading them around her school as they are all the back of her upper thighs, exactly where she sits on the toilet. I too have taken her to the GP to be ignored. I suspect she has immune deficiency.

However, she FINALLY has just one left (and a million other kids are starting their journey thanks to our GP).

That's wierd Hawthorne. We had something similair, I sort of rubbed the head off the most dominant ones while ds was in the bath with a rough flannel (he helped!) and they went within days. Iirc I got that tip from here.

I couldn't squeeze DD's as they were too close to her most sensitive parts.

I did one further down her leg and it did go though. However all of the advice is to never squeeze them.

This is all really interesting and useful. Our GP has given us some salicylic acid so we are doing that and seeing how we get on - it's the same stuff we use on verrucas and that worked on my son so fingers crossed... Her skin is ravaged by the stuff but if it works then I don't mind a bit of short-term horror.

But I will look at all of the above. So interesting to hear your stories.

Starlight interesting hearing your story. My husband asked the doctor about blood test (re immune deficiency) and she apparently said no definitely not, there's no need. I think I will go next to get straight answers.
