DS and Karate lessons

DS (17),who has AS, has been going to Karate twice a week for years, he loves it and is one level away from a black belt, that he is keen to attain.

DS had a taxi to his MS school but is not entitled to this post 16. He will not get on a bus and now happily walks over 3 miles to school, it's good for him.
He's happy to walk most places, except to his Karate lesson as he's in his gear and I happily take him.

I lost my driving licence earlier this week and was very upset about the implications it will have on my career. DS asked if it would help if he learned to drive. I said I would be happy for him to learn but only if it was what he wanted. He said he wasn't bothered as he walked everywhere but then the light dawned and he said "how am I going to get to Karate?"

I've offered to book a taxi but he said he wouldn't be comfortable with that. It's his lesson tonight, he's just in from school and says he won't go. Sad

DH isn't home on time to take him now he has a new job. I've suggested he walks and gets changed there but he won't do that.

I feel so guilty that he's never going to get his black belt - it's not fair!! Sad

Thanks PolterGhoul, I meant to add that I had offered to do that. Was worried that I was whittering on.

That's a good idea, I'll do that with him, we've bought some time as he's not going tonight and DH is off on Monday and he'll take him so I've got until next Friday to come up with a solution.

Thanks Polter I wasn't expecting to loose my licence, I'd have deferred my surgery if I'd known that was going to happen. Sad

Obviously DS is unable to see that this will affect me a lot more than him, I can't get to my job, in the middle of nowhere, on public transport for 7am but the Karate has been so good for his confidence I'd love him to continue and I know he would too.

No, unbelievably it isn't. I need another op to fix the big hole they've left in my skull, I'm going back next week to discuss that, thankfully DH is off or I wouldn't be able to get there.

I also developed Clostridium Difficile from all the intravenous antibiotics I had. Sad

Both DCs have been great but I've just had to tell DD that if they want their traditional Friday treat of fish & chips then she'll have to walk to the shop herself. "How could you do this to me" was her response, mostly in jest.
