DS (17),who has AS, has been going to Karate twice a week for years, he loves it and is one level away from a black belt, that he is keen to attain.
DS had a taxi to his MS school but is not entitled to this post 16. He will not get on a bus and now happily walks over 3 miles to school, it's good for him.
He's happy to walk most places, except to his Karate lesson as he's in his gear and I happily take him.
I lost my driving licence earlier this week and was very upset about the implications it will have on my career. DS asked if it would help if he learned to drive. I said I would be happy for him to learn but only if it was what he wanted. He said he wasn't bothered as he walked everywhere but then the light dawned and he said "how am I going to get to Karate?"
I've offered to book a taxi but he said he wouldn't be comfortable with that. It's his lesson tonight, he's just in from school and says he won't go.
DH isn't home on time to take him now he has a new job. I've suggested he walks and gets changed there but he won't do that.
I feel so guilty that he's never going to get his black belt - it's not fair!!
