Hi all,

Need some advice, I have recently got a diagnosis for my son ASD, however I am really confused as to when I approach the LEA for an assessment for EHCP, I went private for the diagnosis as we are on the nhs waiting which could take up to one year!

I want to start an ABa programme , so do you think it's best to start the programme and then request EHCP, I want to make sure my son has supprt in place well before he starts nursery.

I tried booking call with Ipsea however they have no calls for the next 4 week.

Any infor will be appreciated

Many thanks

I hope you don't mind me going off tangent a little but where did you get your son diagnosed?
I remember your threads from a few weeks back and you were only just talking about having an assessment. It's come through really fast so just wondered where you got him assessed as it might be useful for others who need their dc to be seen quickly Smile

Hi rum You can apply for an EHC needs assessment yourself. There should be a template letter on the IPSEA website.

Good luck Smile

Google to see if you have parent partnership in your area. They should be able to support you

Fairgame, I went to see DR Stefan Studnik who also works for the nhs at ST Mary's hospital in paddington.

He was highly recommended by Dr Smyth who was not taking on any new patients so her secretary gave me DR Studniks details.

He was really helpful and understanding and affordable .

My son had a joint assessment with Dr Studnik who is a paediatric consultant in developmental delays, specialises in autism early diagnosis.

I would definatly recommend him
