Hello,

My son who is 8 is being referred to GOS for assessment for Tourette's and a more in depth diagnosis, he has already been diagnosed with Asperger's, but has become increasing distressed at his "ticks".

Has anyone been through this process, if I am honest I don't really know what I am doing and feel overwhelmed and under supported when it comes to all the testing and stuff.

Any stories of what you and your children have been through would be helpful.

Sorry, I don't have experience of this, but I suggest you phone GOSH and ask if they have any information about what to expect.

My DS went through assessment at GOS. They were absolutely fantastic. We had several days, some with DS who did a cognitive and an ADOS assessment while we did a 3 hour meeting with psychiatrist.we also filled in lots of questionnaires and then the psychologist did a school visit. We then had a final visit where they fed back and gave us an 8 page report which has been invaluable in getting him support. They don't do any intervention but do run the Pegasus programme which is for parents and children. Feel free to ask me any more questions.

Oh thank you so much Oddgirl, that sounds amazing, we would be incredibly happy with that, my son has just been left to stagnate in this school and this sort of assessment sounds like it would be a very useful tool to have under our belt.
